Looking back on this research, it shows just how real the people were that are the heroes of the war. It helps comprehend the effect that the war had on the daily lives of everyday Americans. When people say that its everyday people its hard to understand, but this project puts the "everyday" people that would change history. If I had the ability to talk to Robert Sweet I would ask him if there was anything he regrets in his life, he didn't have a wife or kids, was that a personal choice? Is he happy he didn't so they wouldn't have lost him? Does he regret getting on the ship? Is he glad that he died fighting for his country (rather than any other way)?  What would he tell his family?

This project redefines the word "gratitude" for me because it shows the sacrifices that the soldiers made. He was supporting his family and then was pulled away to fight in a war. I am so grateful that people like Robert Sweet risked their lives so people like me now days are safer and better off than we would be if we had lost World War II. It makes me grateful that I live in a place that isn't threatened by impending war, that my family can live safely together because of the bravery from millions of men like Robert Sweet.
