THis is a 1940's census table, you can see the Sweet family on line 23 through line 36.

Robert Chester Sweet was born on December 13, 1915. His parents were John and Frances Sweet, her maiden name being Frances Gertrude Coakley.  When the war began he was 23, and lived in Erie Pennsylvania, residing at 1071 Smithson Ave. Lawrence Park, Erie Pennsylvania. Robert Sweet had 6 siblings, Albert who was 6 at the time of Robert Sweet's birth, Frances who was 4, Warner who was 3, Benjamen who would be born 3 years after Robert Sweet, Winifred who would be born 5 years later, and Lowell Raymond who would be born 8 years later. All of these family members lived in one home, including his sister in law, Coral, who married Albert. Their three children, Donald, Jacqueline, and Robert, also lived in the home.

John Sweet was working as a railroad engineer and Frances Sweet had no job. Robert Sweet had a job as a electrician before he enlisted and he made $1,100 a year while his father made $3,500 a year. He participated on a local baseball team growing up, the team being pictured with a dog on the right. On August 6th, 1940, when Sweet was 27, he enlisted into the U.S. Army in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. He left behind his family in Erie, he was not married and did not have an children despite the fact that he was 27.
